Ulster Immigrants Defense Network provides a network of safety and support to immigrants, regardless of status. Harana Market is a long-time supporter of UIDN’s work. We are deeply grateful for the services and support they provide to our Ulster County immigrant community.
In the spirit of Three Kings Day (January 6 , 2025) we are hosting a DRIVE to support their community with GIFT CARDS (Walmart, Hannaford) and TOILETRIES (Toothbrush/paste, Laundry Detergent, Shampoo). We are also collecting SPANISH LANGUAGE children’s books.

WHO is the Ulster Immigrants Defense Network?
UIDN supports hundreds of Ulster County immigrants with their weekly grocery distribution.
Wednesday, 4 to 6 p.m., food market at Holy Cross/Santa Cruz Episcopal Church, 30 Pine Grove Avenue, Kingston. Please note: on months with five Wednesdays, there is no market on the fifth week.
Families in need may call UIDN’s helpline, 888-726-7276. If no one answers, leave your request and contact information on voice mail. A volunteer will get back to you within 24 hours. Helpline and office volunteers are bilingual English/Spanish. We do our best to help those who speak other languages.
UIDN helps their community obtain their driver’s license.
Owing to New York State’s 2019 Green Light legislation immigrants are eligible to apply for learners’ permits and driver’s licenses regardless of immigration status. For immigrants who already know how to drive passing the test for the learner’s permit is the most challenging part of the process.They also have partnered with Green Light NY and the Worker Justice Center New York (WJCNY) to support their community in obtaining driver’s license.
UIDN Provides companionship and/or transportation when their community is traveling to
Health care and school-related appointments;
Court appearances;
ICE check-ins; and
Other official meetings.
UIDN Provides valuable legal and medical resources, as well as support in navigating the systems.
